This is the visa for ELICOS (English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students), it is an independent language course, and the course will be provided no longer than 12 months.
This visa is for students who plan to do their primary and high school study in Australia.
This visa type is for students who would like to take Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses such as TAFE; It includes Certificates I, II, III or IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma.

This is a Student Guardian visa; it is for other nation citizens to apply for stay in Australia, to be the guardian of a student who is currently study in this country. You allow to live in Australia as same length as the student’s visa.

Australia Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) divides overseas students into three assessment levels (AL1 ro AL3), from lowest to highest , in order to measure the risk level of their immigration tendency. Assessment level is also differentiated by countries or regions.
Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP)
SVP is implemented by DIBP Australia which will assess all student visa applicants who are eligible for SVP, for example they have low immigration risk (according to assessment level 1). Only students enrolling into prescribed courses and institutes will be eligible for SVP assessment. This minimises documents required to be go through and saves the time it normally take for issuing a student visa.
Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE)
DIBP needs to know exactly whether the applicant’s circumstances indicating them only intent for temporary stay in Australia. In order to be granted a student visa, students need to achieve the requirement. DIBP will look into factors like
the bond you have with your home country, for example, how tight you are with your family
your intention to go back home country
and the circumstances of your home country.
Student visa application assessment
During processing of student visa, DIBP will consider about the assessment level and GTE of each student before granting a visa; however in some cases, for example the university or college that student apply is on SVP list, immigration officer may not necessarily consider about assessment level. There would have different situation according to students’ different circumstance. Although some student visa applications are assessed under assessment level 1 or even assessment level requirements are exempted, officers at DIBP are authorised to request any kind of documents to prove the GTE requirement.
